Team ‘Step Up’ to 1,000 Mile Walking Challenge

5 Jan, 2021

Back in November the team were set a challenge to collectively walk 1,000 miles in aid of MIND, the leading mental health charity in England and Wales.  The challenge would also be a great opportunity for some socially distanced team building whilst also promoting the importance of looking after our own wellbeing by getting outdoors and exercising.

For a little friendly competition, the team were split into two and were given a walking target of 500 miles each over six weeks.  Both teams really stepped up to the challenge and smashed their original target in just three weeks so a new 1,000 mile target was set.  We’re pleased to say that at the end of the six weeks, the team had collectively walked a total of 2,243 miles! The equivalent of walking to Cairo in Egypt or Newfoundland, off the coast of Canada.

So, who was the winning team…?

The ‘Red Hot Chilli Steppers’ consisting of Jennifer, Debbie, Peter, Jodie, Ina, Stacey, Courtney, Rhiannon, Bird and Alex walked a total of 1,081 miles.  This would have got the team to Reykjavik in Iceland, home of the northern lights, spa mud, hot pools and puffins.

‘Walking on Sunshine Woohooo’ consisting of Charlie, Jenni, Susan, Rachel, Bryony, Kerrie, Chrissy, Sarah, Megan and Lauren walked a total of 1,162 miles.  These miles would have got them to Helsinki in Finland, home to one of the biggest coffee drinking nations in the world, Lapland and of course our very own Ina.

A huge well done to the team for embracing the challenge.  A donation of £250 has been made to MIND for the great work they do in providing advice and support to anyone experiencing a mental health problem.  Find out more about the Charity here: https://www.mind.org.uk/
