ISO Celebrate a Hat Trick of Apprentice Success

2 Dec, 2013

ISO Quality Services Ltd have helped three young people into work in the area through a more unconventional route.

While many young people and parents have been worrying about the future of education, ISO Quality Services Ltd has taken proactive steps to ensure the success of the next generation. In less than a year they have taken on three new apprentices and together both parties have found they’ve enjoyed incredible success.

After a string of employees that seemed less than committed to the future of the business, ISO began searching for those that would possess the qualities they needed in a member of their team. They sought out individuals with ambition, integrity, a desire to succeed and reliability and found these present in their first Apprentice.

It was less than twelve months ago when Mike Williams joined the ISO team, on a part time basis he became a junior accounts assistant while completing his studies at Worcester College of Technology. His passion is evident as he completed his exams two months earlier than planned.

Mike is now an integral part of the company and a valued member of the team, he says, “Having spent two years studying A Levels I decided that full-time education was not for me, so I looked into other options and one of my friends suggested apprenticeships.  I chose ISO Quality Services because when I came for my interview I realised that I would not be just a number, working in a smaller team has meant I can get involved in all aspects of the company, not just accountancy, giving me knowledge and experience that at such a young age, I would struggle to get elsewhere.  When I complete my apprenticeship I plan to continue studying at the next level of AAT”.

Following the success of hiring Mike ISO went onto hire two more apprentices, Natalie Alison who would like to run her own SME one day and Emily Cameron who is a New Business Development Administrator.

Catherine Price, the Client Relationship Office Manager for ISO explained what qualities she saw in Natalie “Natalie showed initiative and business sense from the interview, she showed understanding of objectives and kpi’s which for a 16 year old school leaver is very rare.”

Emily works under the direction of the Senior Business Development Executive who is very impressed with her apprentice she says, “It is a pleasure to have Emily as part of the team.  She has helped take pressure off the team by acting as a vital admin aid.  Emily has helped us analyse data to help us monitor the performance of our department.  She is a promising bright individual”.

Jennifer Appleton, Operations Director for the company says ‘as a small but growing organisation, finding the right employees is absolutely crucial to the on-going success of our business and as an employer we are playing an important role in giving back to the business community by providing experience and skills to these people, who may want to run or own their own businesses one day.’

Now with three apprentices that are undoubtedly part of the friendly family atmosphere that makes ISO Quality Service Ltd so popular, celebrations are in order. Here’s to the Hat trick that’s helped our local young people pursue the careers of their dreams.

ISO Quality Services Ltd are proud to specialise in the implementation and certification of the Internationally recognised ISO and BS EN Management Standards.
