One in seven people across the UK are grappling with hunger and are unable to afford basic essentials. Worcester Foodbank reported a significant 29% rise in demand during 2022/23, providing essential support to 14,701 individuals. In response, the Foodbank has announced plans to expand their operations into the building next door, enabling them to better serve the growing number of people in crisis.
To address this urgent issue we re-launched our annual Bingo Box campaign for the 7th consecutive year. Running from October to late November, Bingo Box aims to support Worcester Foodbank during the critical winter season when demand for its services is at its highest.
The initiative encourages organisations to complete a bingo sheet with urgently needed items or to make a financial contribution. Completed boxes were delivered to our headquarters in St.Johns, and monetary donations were sent directly to Worcester Foodbank.
Despite widespread economic pressures, 18 businesses joined the cause, donating 25 boxes of essential supplies and raising an additional £590 in cash donations. The contributions will help Worcester Foodbank sustain its operations and support local families in need during the festive season and beyond.
We want to thank every individual and company that supported this initiative. Their efforts will make a tangible difference for many families, helping to alleviate hunger and spread hope this Christmas season.
