Should ISO be in your BREXIT box?

31 Jan, 2020

The UK formally leaves the EU at 11 pm on 31st January 2020 but there’s still lots to talk about and months of negotiations to follow.

The UK will shortly begin the transition period, expected to last until 31st December 2020. During this time, the UK will remain in both the EU customs union and single market. That means, until the transition ends, most things will stay the same.

If you’re looking for a way to future proof your business during uncertain times, could ISO Certification be the answer?

What Can ISO Standards Offer Your Business?

As you would expect from an organisation named the ‘International Organization for Standardization’, its ISO Standards are exactly the same across the globe. It doesn’t matter if a company is in Ireland, Iceland or India, it’ll be operating to the same high levels. In that sense, it is sensible to see it as a component of your company’s Brexit preparations, if you haven’t already got it.

However, we never recommend that a company embarks on ISO certification purely as a tick box exercise. We see the best results when clients embrace the concept (and the change and development it entails) wholeheartedly and involve every tier of their employees. So, although British companies with ISO certification are exceptionally well placed to reassure their customers that they are committed to operating to the same high standards, regardless whether we are in the EU or not, we will never promote ISO as a ‘panic buy’ solution.
