Last Friday, our first ever socially distanced Golf Day took place. Our Annual Charity Golf Day usually means a warm summer’s day of socialising freely, some friendly competition and an evening meal. However, this year was evidently different, so we had to get our heads together and do some thinking.

The last few months have been challenging for us all and now is the time to ask ourselves, ‘what can we learn from this experience and how do we future proof our business going forward?’.

Linden Care Homes closed their doors on 13th March to protect their residents from coronavirus.  With just one confirmed case and overall infection rates down, they are now looking to welcome family members back.

Lessons Learnt

About 4 months ago, the UK was struck with the consequences of the Coronavirus. Everything went into lockdown. For a few weeks, the streets that used to be bustling with shoppers and site seers were like a ghost town. We, as a nation, had to change. It’s not over yet, but as we’re starting to see some life after isolation, perhaps it’s time to ask the question; have we learnt anything from the experience?

If there’s one thing we’ve learnt during the coronavirus pandemic, it’s the importance of nursing.  So, it seems only right that the World Health Organization (WHO) have chosen the year 2020 as the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife.  Whilst nurses and health care support workers haven’t changed what they do over recent months, they have stepped up and intensified their working in order to get us through the pandemic.  We caught up with our clients, The Royal College of Nursing (RCN), to see how they’ve been managing through these difficult times.

Celebrating

Today was the day we were officially celebrating our 20th Anniversary of being in business… Evidently the COVID-19 situation has once again thrown a spanner in the works and made this not possible. Despite this, we are still going to celebrate!

Relationships

Is it possible that the global lockdown is complicating what was already a steady decline in human connection and increase in loneliness? We’ve all been ‘socially’ distancing for safety reasons, in order to slow the progress of the virus, but this has made people literally, socially distant. This was never the intention, and shouldn’t be happening. So why is it?

Since the Coronavirus has changed our ability to deliver these physical courses safely now, we have adapted them into being held remotely.

Microsoft Teams

The ways we’ve adopted to cause the least amount of disruption with day-to-day working can be adapted and applied in most every business. These new guidelines have made certain aspects of work life so much harder. The inability to physically be with our colleagues changes so much. Though this change is inevitable, is it doomed to failure?

Auditing

Whilst we’re all staying at home and social distancing, I’m going to share with you what my life is like now – as the virtual auditor. Since the Coronavirus has inflicted major changes on everyday work life, for nearly all industries, the auditing profession has had to adapt to be a little more creative than usual…
