What affect will Brexit have on ISO Standards?

On June 23rd the UK voted to leave the European Union. This decision will bring about many changes to our country and our economy over the next few years.

What we don’t know

What we don’t know is the impact that this change will bring to UK businesses and how this will affect their current strategies.

What we do know

  • ISO standards have existed for over 30 years
  • They are internationally recognised
  • They have a worldwide reputation for bringing benefits to help push businesses forward
  • Can help improve tenders and exports
  • Solidify a company’s reputation towards a recognised trademark

We are confident in saying that ISO standards and the part that they play in helping businesses to grow will remain unaffected by the country’s transition from the EU.

The ISO standards have input from all over the world including America, Canada, Russia, China, India, Australia and Europe.

The systems were established to provide globally acceptable business “norms” and are updated on an on-going cycle to make sure they are still aligned with the current business landscape.

As a business who wants to trade in the UK and internationally, your certification is still a main factor in asking other businesses to trust that your business practises are first-rate and externally audited.

ISO standards remain a great way to manage unpredictability and give your business a recognised trademark, which only makes your company more attractive in the market at home and abroad.

Furthermore, there will be no changes to the current standards because of this vote. ISO standards will continue to prove a company’s on-going commitment to quality objectives, environmental targets, and approaching risk management in the future.

Regardless of our position in the EU, these differentiators will remain a consistent and structured approach to help businesses enter new markets and meet customer demand.

If you do require some advice regarding exports and are unsure how ‘Brexit’ could affect your business, then please contact your local chamber to talk with a representative from UKTI (UK Trade & Investment).

For any help understanding your ISO standards and how they might be able to help strengthen your business in this time of unpredictability, please contact us on 01905 670303 or email clientservices@isoqsltd.com.

Meet Our Team

While it is our job to find out lots about you and your business requirements, we thought that you might like to get to know us a little bit better. Each month we will introduce you to a member of our team, giving you opportunity to learn more about each of us!

Get to know Kerrie!

This month you can find out all about Kerrie, our Digital Marketing Apprentice.

What is your role in the office?
I am the Digital Marketing Apprentice so I work closely with the website and social media. My day to day tasks include updating posts for social media and our website, attending networking events and other communication strategies.

What is your favourite thing about working at ISO Quality Services?
I think it would definitely have to be the team I work with. We all work closely and are always helping one another out with tasks. We always do activities outside of the office too which makes it fun!

Why did you choose this type of apprenticeship?
Well after attending sixth form for a year, I realised I needed something hands-on and more motivating, so I decided to look into apprenticeships. I have always worked from my early teenage years and I knew with an apprenticeships I could ‘earn and learn’ at the same time. I am creative and highly motivated and I like learning more about the marketing side of the business. However I am still young so who knows where I will be in 5 years’ time!

Tell us something in the office nobody knows about you
I was a very weird child and when I had my tonsils removed aged 9, I asked if I could keep them in a jar in my room!

What makes you happiest?
Spending time with my family, boyfriend and friends. I have always been so close to my family, my mum is my best friend so I am at my happiest when I am spending time with them, even if it’s just watching a film on the sofa!

How would your best friends describe you?
Bubbly, friendly, motivated but with no common sense!
