ISO Quality Services Ltd – April 2016 Newsletter

18 Apr, 2016

Welcome to the April 2016 edition of the ISO Quality Services Newsletter

We hope you’re having a good month so far! The news this month was dominated by Brexit, “Dodgy Dave” as tax scandals find a new political playground and we are once again left to ponder the future of British Manufacturing as we await the outcome for steel production in the UK. Looking ahead in April, the world gets ready to celebrate the works of William Shakespeare on April 23rd, with the 400 year anniversary of his death, and we get ready for the Wonderful Worcestershire Women’s Awards in which two of our team are finalists. Fingers crossed!

Providing Structure, Stability and Security

What if I told you I could…?

  • Save you money?
  • Increase successfulness in tenders?
  • Increase sales?
  • Provide Structure, Stability and Security to your business?
  • Increase the worth of your business by up to 20%?

Interested? ISO Standards have the ability to help your business grow, provide credibility, enhance your tender opportunities and solidify your marketing efforts.

Still with me? They can also help your business to reach new markets either nationally, internationally or allow you access to a group of prospects you might not have been able to access before.

An ISO standard aims to improve your internal efficiency and implement processes that will give your business structure.

This formalised structure helps to increase the worth of your business and provide stability for the future.

Having an ISO standard in place also increases security, in terms of control but also by improving client retention and helping your employees feel more secure in their job roles.

There are many ISO standards depending on the needs of your business. The ISO 9001 Standard is the most common standard and is seen as a “norm” in many industries.

What is ISO 9001 certification?

Essentially it is a system that helps businesses put processes in place to use resources (including people) in the most efficient way possible for the particular business.

The focus is on three areas:

  • Designing a programme that will maximise customer satisfaction
  • Implementing a system with processes that consistently meets desired customer standards
  • Monitoring, reviewing and improving processes to improve results on a continual basis

Are you considering a second standard?

Well…

The ISO 9001 is at the core of most ISO standards, which makes it the perfect base when looking to add other ISO management standards to your business.

Two of the standards that fit in well to that base, are the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental and the ISO 27001:2013 Information Security management standard.

So, why not heighten your company’s green credentials by running the ISO 14001:2015 or by promoting efficient management of sensitive corporate information by running the ISO 27001:2013?

Running the ISO 14001:2015 could make your business more cost effective as well as fulfilling your social responsibility to the planet.  The standard is a systematic and process driven approach to controlling those aspects of your business that have a significant impact on the environment.

The ISO 27001:2013 would ensure your business takes all precautions toward information security, which is still a hot topic after even large corporations had massive information breaches last year.  The standard offers a systematic and pro-active approach to effectively managing risks to the security of your company’s confidential information

I can hear you thinking, it seems like too much work to run another standard?

Well it’s simple, with the key principles of the ISO 9001 standard already in place a massive percentage of the work is already complete.  Adding one of the above standards would be quick and easy, as well as heightening your business efficiency.

We’ve achieved a local well-being initiative

In March we were delighted to hear that as a company we have successfully achieved Worcestershire Works Well Level 1 Accreditation.

We have been working towards this accolade over the past 6 months to demonstrate our commitment to maintaining a happy and healthy business.

Worcestershire Works Well aims to help build awareness of the importance of looking after staff well-being.

The accreditation also looks to enable Worcestershire companies to demonstrate their commitment to creating the best possible working environment for their employees.

Improved employee health and well-being has been shown repeatedly to improve profitability and productivity of businesses.

As a result of our efforts we have been awarded Worcestershire Works Well Level 1 without any recommendations and were commended on our approach, passing “with flying colours”. We will begin working towards Level 2 shortly.

On achieving Level 1, Jennifer commented, “We are delighted to have been awarded this accolade. As a company we invest a lot of time in developing our staff but it’s important to remember that development is not always just professionally. In order for us to all perform at our best we need to establish a working environment geared towards creating happy and healthy employees”.

Meet Our Team

Get to know Hanna!

This month you can find out all about Hanna, our Marketing Executive!

What is your role in the office?
As the Marketing Executive I co-ordinate the company’s marketing activities including our website, communication strategies and plan and attend networking events.

What is your favourite thing about working at ISO Quality Services?
There are lots of opportunities for a graduate working in a small company. You learn many skills and have lots of responsibilities to keep you busy!

Why did you choose this profession?
As part of my degree I completed a placement year working in a customer relationship position. I have always worked within a customer facing environment, starting my early career working at Homebase as a Customer Service and Showroom Advisor. After graduating I wanted to try my hand at marketing after enjoying the marketing elements of my degree.

Tell us something in the office nobody knows about you
I’m a big car fan and last year got to drive an Aston Martin DB9 and a Porsche GT3. This year I am hoping to do a driving experience at Silverstone.

What is your favourite book and why?
My favourite book is a series called Outlander. I was recommended the series by some colleagues on my work placement and absolutely loved the first book. The series tells the story of Claire, a married combat nurse who in 1945 is transported back in time to 18th Century Scotland during the midst of the Jacobite rising; at a time when Scotland and England are at war.

What would you most like to learn and why?
I have always wanted to be able to speak lots of languages. I really admire anyone who takes the time and effort to learn another language. In another of my favourite books, the main character is granted wishes and one of them was to speak every language so that she could travel anywhere – I remember reading this and thinking what a great wish!
