ISO 9001: 2015 could be just around the corner, status update

The revision is currently in the 5th stage of a 6 stage process and we will update you as soon as it is approved. Please keep an eye on our latest news to stay updated with its progress.

Improving staff morale, throwing away the ‘carrot and the stick’

A big question asked by managers revolves around the challenge they face from getting the most out of their staff, with securing motivation high on their list of priorities.A business that does not excite its staff is rarely going to see this enthusiasm translated to customers, or help them to build meaningful connections.

The old ‘carrot and stick’ philosophy rarely has any ground any more, as employees are seeking benefits that outweigh traditional extrinsic motivations.

Employees are now much more likely to be attracted to and remain in jobs that promote other incentives, with many managers wondering how to boost motivation outside of financial gains.

Establishing the ISO 9001 Quality Management standard is one way that you can boost motivation within your workforce, by taking a step in a more secure direction for your staff.

At the core of this standard lies increased profit potential and efficiency, but the knock on effects create numerous benefits to your workforce with ISO 9001 promoting improvements to motivation and morale through heightened job security and overall job satisfaction, showing the paybacks of this internationally recognised standard can stretch far beyond just resource and quality management.

By establishing this standard you are providing your staff with increased job security, a factor commonly ranking highly among motivators, through enhanced and efficient business practises which save you both time and money.

Job satisfaction is also increased as employees have clear structures and procedures in place, working in sync to protect them and provide a framework for how things should be done.

Together this has the power to improve overall morale and motivation within your team, alongside promoting the availability of additional training within the standard.

Additional training will assist in building employee confidence and competence. Our next Quality Manager Training will be on Wednesday 9th September 2015 at our office, please see below for the details and for our other upcoming training sessions.

Take the steps towards establishing a successful and motivated office culture today by finding out more about the benefits of the ISO 9001 Quality Management standard. Please contact us on 01905 670303 or email info@isoqsltd.com for more information.

Annual Appraisals: Questioning the future of performance management

There is currently plenty of controversy within the industry regarding the success of annual performance reviews.Every business will have its own opinion on how it handles monitoring the performance of their employees. But every business will have some sort of performance management structure in place.

This is why it might come as a bit of a surprise to learn that Accenture, along with Microsoft, Deloitte and Google, have decided to scrap their current annual appraisal system.

The consulting giant has opted to move away from annual reviews and a ranking based approach, joining the many companies believing the current appraisal system is too controlled, too rigid and ultimately backward thinking.

Each business is different; implementing the ISO 9001 Quality Management System is one way to ensure your evaluations are forward thinking and focused on core areas; steered towards delivering the standard.

The research observed goes on to show that the majority of employees still see value in the clarity of a formal annual appraisal in designing their career aspirations.

The way forward seems to be clear; have a formal review but don’t wait for them to iron out issues that have already become habit by integrating continuous development into everyday life through ISO 9001.

ISO 9001 Quality Management

Top Tip this month: Improving staff performance through client feedback

Getting client feedback is an important part of ISO 9001. Our experience has found that the best way of securing satisfaction scores from clients has come from using online platforms such as Survey Monkey to collate this information. Attaining client feedback is an essential aspect of the standard and will improve your customer service for future clients, ensuring any issues are picked up and acted upon quickly.

This in turn helps employees to hone their customer service craft and improve staff performance.
