RCA Regeneration – A Growth Voucher Case Study
The Growth Voucher Scheme was designed to aid the growth of SME’s in the England. Here are the experiences from one of the many companies that have benefited.
RCA Regeneration is a Worcestershire based company that after being founded in 2009 has gone from strength to strength under the stewardship of its Co-Directors, Rob Csondor and Sian Griffiths.
As a company they specialise in the provision of planning, development and transport consultancy advice. RCA Regeneration may be a young company that prides itself on maintaining that personal touch but they are also a very ambitious company.
The Growth Voucher Scheme
This ambition was evident when they applied for funding under the Growth Voucher scheme. The Growth Voucher scheme is government backed and involves companies receiving matched funding of up to £2000 for strategic business advice.
Co-Director Rob Csondor was the main driving force behind the application, citing the fact that it was a great opportunity to aid the growth of a small business in the professional services sector.
Once their application for the Growth Voucher scheme was successful, the company then made the decision to use the matched funding towards strategic support towards implementing an ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
When asked why they had come to the decision to pursue the implementation of ISO 9001, Rob highlighted the fact that they are going through a number of changes in the business, at which juncture it seemed opportune to consider a quality management system for the business.
Implementing and ISO 9001 system had been under consideration by RCA Regeneration for some time previously but due to both cost and need it was not considered to be the right time. However as the business grew, Quality Management was a key area which was felt would benefit the business as a whole. As part of this they felt the strategic support offered by ISO Quality Services was just what they were looking for.
The Implementation Process
The process of implementing a management system is seen by some as being an invasive activity that requires the complete change of how a business does things. For RCA, this is not the case however, and when asked about the implementation process; Rob was keen to point out that the advice ISO Quality Services’ provided and the approach they took “made the process considerably easier than we ever thought it would be”.
Although he was quick to point out that they had a lot of work to do in order to maintain and develop their processes, Rob was also unequivocal when discussing what benefits the implementation of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System. “The process has required us to examine how we ensure quality and consistency in everything we do. It has required us to look long and hard at our processes and put in place mechanisms to ensure that quality is a key consideration in what we do”.
Claiming Through the Growth Voucher Scheme
A key aspect of the Growth Voucher scheme is that a company must pay the supplier and then claim the money back from the government. Here at ISO Quality Services, we appreciate that this can be very time consuming. Therefore we feel that it is important to work with clients, including RCA Regeneration so as to ensure the process was as smooth as possible. This was something that Rob and the team appreciated and commented, “We are thankful to ISO QSL for handling this element of the process”.
In conclusion, when asked whether they would recommend other businesses to apply for funding under the Growth Voucher scheme, the response was a definitive yes.
