What are the benefits to training your staff?

28 Jan, 2016

Training and development can often be initiated for an employee or group of employees in an establishment.

Developing staff can improve business performance, profit and staff morale. By having regular and beneficial training it’s an investment that helps the employees to develop in their careers whilst giving the business a high skilled workforce with a competitive advantage.

Training can also lead to development in their job role. This development allows for more activities to be undertaken to enable employees to perform additional duties or develop in their original role.

There are also many benefits to a business as training staff can result in better customer service, better work safety practises and the productivity improves.

As well as this, businesses will demonstrate to their workforce that they value them enough to invest in them; this can improve loyalty and staff retention.

There are also lots of benefits to the staff as by attending training, staff acquire new skills which mean their contribution to the business will be increased, culminating in a build on their self-esteem. Also, the staff are then more skilled to do new and different task, this can keep staff motivated.

Training can also be development that happens in the business/office. On the job training can also be very beneficial to employees and organisations. Job shadowing would be an excellent use of on the job training. By spending time with an expert it enables the employee to observe how the expert does their day to day duties.
