5 Reasons Why Debbie is So Approachable

6 Sep, 2021

Being approachable is an important behavioural trait for any HR professional, but our very own Debbie Farr has this mastered to a tee!

Debbie joined the team back in 2014 to help with the newly formed training department but HR was where her passion truly lay, and in 2019, became our HR & Facilities Director.  She also heads up our health and wellbeing initiative with Worcestershire Works Well, which received an ‘Outstanding Achievement Award’.  We can’t think of a better person for the job.  Here’s 5 reasons why…

  1. She’s one of the nicest and kindest people you could ever meet.  Seriously, she doesn’t have a bad bone in her body.  She goes out of her way to do nice things for the team, whether that’s posting a ‘pick me up’ over lockdown or buying some of their favourite goodies for the office.

  2. She’s incredibly easy to talk to, putting you at ease.  This could be down to the fact that she’s always in a positive mood, smiling and generally a ray of sunshine.  Whatever it is, she’s reliable and balanced and it just comes naturally to her.  You know you can approach her about anything, and she won’t pass judgement.

  3. If you have a problem, she will always make the time to listen.  Not only that, but she’s also supportive and understanding too.  She will always see things from your perspective, and you can tell, she genuinely wants to help you overcome any problems.

  4. You can tell she really caresDebbie checks in on us regularly but I’m not talking about our usual HR meeting here.  If she has any concerns that you might be feeling under pressure at work, home or genuinely don’t seem yourself, she’ll notice.  Not only that, but she’ll go out of her way to make sure you’re ok

  5. She’s impossible not to like and likeable people are naturally seen as approachable.  She has a great sense of humor and is down to earth.  Everyone needs a Debbie in their life

But don’t take my word for it, here’s why the team think Debbie is so approachable:

“Debbie is such a warm and welcoming person, always there to listen to me moan, cry, able to handle my “hyper hour” and never makes any judgement. It’s lovely having a HR Director who genuinely cares, thank you for everything you do Debbie!”

Life in the past few years as brought me so many curve balls. However, I always know that I can speak to Debbie really openly and honestly about the impact these things may have on work. She is always so understanding and supportive. She was particularly supportive during lockdown with her catch up calls and I’m really glad these have continued post lockdown as they are something I look forward to. She absolutely embodies our value of being approachable – exactly what you need from a HR Director!”.

Debbie is probably one of the most approachable members of the ISO family. She is always there to listen to you with no judgments. She will regularly check in to make sure you’re ok and strives to improve the team’s wellbeing, I can’t count the amount of times we’ve been surprised with a small gift waiting for us at our desks. Thanks for all you do for us Debbie, we appreciate you!”

“Debbie is so easy to talk to – no matter what the issue is, she makes sure she’ll have the time to sit down and have a chat. She never judges you, simply cares and listens.”

“Debbie’s friendly and caring nature makes her easy to approach about any problem whether this be big or small and also without feeling any form of judgement.”

“Debbie is the most approachable member of the team. There is nothing that I cannot speak to her about or discuss with her. She is always open and puts us and our needs in front of everything. She is a star!”

“Debbie always takes time to come over and say Good morning when we are in the office and has a little chat. She calls me when she feels I have been super busy to check in on me which I have always really appreciated. This has always made me feel she cares and Values me as a member of the team.”

“From the first initial phone interview I had with Debbie she has been nothing but super helpful and approachable. Being the newest member of the team could have easily been really daunting but Debbie made it easy and was always available for me to speak to. She always comes to work with a smile and speaks to everyone to see how they are, her caring nature really does make everyone’s day!”
